Peter Galanos was born May 27th, 1941, in New Providence Bahamas. Life was not easy for him. He became an orphan at a very young age and was taken to live on Cat Island with his grandaunt Marian and her husband for a while. He returned to New Providence to attend high school at St. Augustine’s College. He was a very brilliant kid. He excelled in his studies and graduated with honors. He eventually got a job a Barkley’s Bank where he also excelled and became bank manager in a short time. He decided to move over to the Insurance field and work for Colina Insurance Company. He excelled at that job as well. He became the first Bahamian to ever to gain recognition as a member of the million-dollar round table by selling over 5 million dollars of insurance in his first year with the company. He soon started his own insurance and real estate businesses that proved to be very lucrative. Then he got into politics and became a member of Parliament where a served for a few years and then acquired the position of Bahamas Ambassador to Central America. We would all surely agree that he has indeed lived a full life. He passed away on August 30th at the age of 80.
